Robert:

The pressure drop across the 220 Sensor is of course a function of the pipe size it is installed into; which they did not provide.

 

We stop taking head loss measurements at 2”, since the head loss becomes too hard to measure in larger pipe sizes.

 

However, for design purposes, they should consider the head loss to be the same as 5 Feet of the same size pipe..

 

For example, the head loss in through a 4” pipe at 200 GPM is about 0.985 PSI/100 Ft, so 5 Ft would be about 0.049 PSI or 1.36 Inches of Water.

 

As you can see, the head loss to truly negligible.

Below is an email we received from Honeywell in the UAE. We quoted them 220SS and a 310. Can you give us the best respond we could use. In the past we used a data sheet to show a negligible drop in pressure but we cannot come up with that info.
